Who’s ready to say goodbye to 2021?
We thought 2020 would be hard. For many, 2021 asked us to double down on our resilience. But take heart, you made it. You’re here, witnessing the last few days of 2021.
year end reflection
No matter what 2021 was like for you, it’s important to pause. Take a breath. Notice the lessons, the highs, and the lows. Use this time to close out 2021 to start the next year fresh.
Here is a guide for reflection prompts. Grab your journal or a piece of paper and write down whatever comes into mind.
Take yourself back to the first of January 2021. What were your hopes and dreams for 2021? What were those secret hopes and dreams? The ones you kept deep inside.
What did you do this year to nurture those hopes and dreams? Were you consistent? Did you work on them every day or every week? It’s okay if you didn’t. It’s a lesson learned. If you were consistent, where are you at right now with those hopes and dreams?
Let’s call your hopes and dreams a goal. What’s the next phase for that goal? What will taking consistent action towards that goal look like in 2022? Take a moment and write it down.
Were there any wiggly turns on the road to your goal? There is often one. What did the wiggles teach you or show you? Who did the wiggles place in your path? Take a moment to bless those wiggly routes with love and gratitude. The people we’ve met, the experiences we’ve had, the a-has, the lessons.
If consistency wasn’t your thing for 2021, what got in the way of that? Was that goal really your heart’s desire? What can you do differently in 2022?
Turn to the tough times. What did you learn from them? Did you ask for help and gracefully accept help when it was offered? Are there any conversations that need to be had to bring closure to those lessons? If there are, make a note of those now and commit to finalizing them this week.
How did you care for your body this year? Take a moment to thank your body for taking care of itself. Send a wave of love from the top of your head all the way down to the tips of your toes and then down into the earth.
Feel the universal Earth energies fill you up with love and acceptance. What were those magic moments of 2021? Those special conversations, being stopped in your tracks by something so beautiful it touches your soul.
all the small wins
What did you love most about this year? How did you celebrate your wins?
Perhaps, this is the year where you’re gentle with yourself.
• If you got out of bed, that’s a win.
• If you drank two liters of water, that’s a win.
• If you lived to play another day, that’s a win.
Celebrate all your wins, not just the ones you decided were worthy of celebration. Chalk up those dopamine hits daily. Pat yourself on the back and say, “I did good today.”
the magic three checklist
Run through the magic three checklist. Based on what you learned about yourself in 2021, what are the three things you need to stop doing? Make a plan to stop doing those things.
- What are the three things you want to start doing in 2022?
2. What are the three things you’re doing now that you want to keep doing?
3. What makes them matter?
be grateful for 2021
Here we are, at the end of 2021. A memo was received, and lessons were learned. There were fabulous things, people, and magic moments to remember.
As we close out our time together, place your hands on your heart. Imagine an image that represents 2021. It doesn’t matter what it is. It could be a gold ball, for example. Now think of something or someone, and fur babies are included in this, whom you love deeply and completely.
Let that feeling fill your being. Now allow that feeling to touch your image that represents 2021. See the image grow brighter and clearer as you hold the intention in your heart of love and gratitude for 2021.
Thank you, 2021, for all the riches you have bestowed upon us. The joy, the laughter, the heartbreak, the perspective.
